Food Gifts Ideas Enjoyed By Everyone

January 31, 2009 by Guest · Leave a Comment

food gift

What makes a food gift so popular? Perhaps it is due to the fact that many holidays or events are associated with food. Chocolates for Valentine’s Day, turkeys are often associated with Thanksgiving and Christmas, and Christmas cookies are always on the menu. Food gift baskets are a great gift to give to people that you don’t know very well, as you can include a few items that pretty much everyone likes or you can make it more personal by putting all of their favorite things together.

Giving this type of gift can be fairly inexpensive, yet it will still show you cared enough to take the time to put it together. For example, if you need gifts for your coworkers, then use a recipe for simple spiced party nuts and create different ways to wrap them. You can use a mesh materiel tied up with a pretty bow or go to the dollar store and buy several different types of tins or bottles. Be sure to give everyone a different wrap and they will be a big hit.

You may think that giving a food gift means putting together a gourmet food gift basket or something similar. However, you can put a gift together that shows you took the time to make it especially for them, without worrying that you are spending too much money. If you have a coworker that is British, then gather some different flavored teas and scones wrapped in pretty tissue paper. If you have a really great cookie recipe, then get the ingredients together and put them inside an old milk bottle or mug.

For the holidays, consider putting together some Christmas gift baskets for friends and relatives. Be creative in your choices; it shows them how much you appreciate them when you take the time to put something like this together. Fruit baskets are a great idea for grandparents and for the wine connoisseur on your list, consider giving them a wine gift basket.

If you are looking for a gift that is relatively inexpensive, yet shows how much you care, then consider putting together a Christmas gift basket for the person. It does not have to be fancy; you can gather the ingredients needed for baking gingerbread and place them in a basket with the recipe. A food gift can be made even more special when you find a unique way of wrapping or presenting it, such as using mason jars to hold your favorite home made jelly or jam recipe or an oversized mug holding a recipe for hot chocolate.

How to Make Money from Funny Videos

January 31, 2009 by John Savage · Leave a Comment

It is really quite easy to make a funny video website, and then go on and make money from it. Many people have already done this, and are making a good living from it, and I am going to tell you how to go and do the same.

1. Your site.

The first thing to making a funny video website is choosing a good name. Have some fun trying to think up catchy names for your website. A catchy, unique and memorable name is key to not only getting traffic but maintaining traffic.

2. How we get the videos.

Getting the videos is not as difficult as you may think. A good search on the internet should throw up a number of sites which will allow you to access and use their videos, and also to share around videos from one site to another.

3. Making the Money.

Now of course I know that you are thinking “how do I make any money from this”? and thats a fair question. Well, by using a variety of methods such as Google Ads, Banner Ads., ezine advertising etc. you will find that you can start to generate quite a few dollars, and once you start, and word gets around, then the floodgates can open.

Start up accounts at Google and yahoo for click on ad’s, and find internet products which will coincide with the type of videos you’ll be showing. Many internet products will have programs for webmasters which you can sign up for and immediately start promoting products on your site. Once your site develops traffic, you can start to hit up larger business’s for banner ad’s which can pay very well. The combination of different income streams will bring in a steady income flow as long as your traffic is ramped up.

4. Putting it all together.

If you want to make all of this a lot easier then you just need to do a search on the internet for books or manual which will show you how to make light work of setting all of this up. A search such as “making funny videos” or “video websites” should lead you to a number of easy options which will indeed make your task a lot easier.

Efficiency and Convenience in One - Samsung SyncMaster 2263DX

January 31, 2009 by Matt Ryan · Leave a Comment

Dual monitoring is a very efficient way for individuals to get their work done. Whatever you may use the two monitors for, it allows you to separate applications for your convenience and ease of use. This concept has been around for over a decade and manufacturers are just now coming up with solutions that provide the same efficiency in a more spacious design.

Samsung has recently released the SyncMaster 2263DX, which just might solve some of the special issues of dual monitoring. This system is a combination of a 22″ and 7″ monitor. The 7-inch monitor actually attaches to the 22″ monitor. This gives consumers two monitors that only take up the space of one, with the added bonus of using the small unit for secondary applications only (applications like web browsing, video, or instant messaging).

These monitors, with their shiny black coating, and beveled edges, will add a bit of elegance to any setting. The 22″ monitor has a response time of 5ms, contrast ration of 1000:1, and a resolution of 1680 x 1050. All of which is pretty standard for monitors today. To connect the 22″ to your computer, you will need to connect not only via the DVI, HDMI, or VGA port, but with the USB 2.0 port as well.

The smaller monitor, expectedly, has a much lower resolution and contrast ration along with a slower response time. (Res: 800 x 480, Con: 400:1, RT: 30ms) For a secondary monitor that supports secondary applications, these numbers are definitely sufficient for productivity.

Through the use of a swivel arm, the smaller monitor is attached to the larger one on either the left or right side, or even on the top. The smaller unit is flexible in its position as users can rotate the unit to their desired position. The unit can also be manipulated to stay in either landscape or portrait layout.

The dual monitoring experience, that the SyncMaster 2263DX offers, is phenomenal. However, it does not stop with pure efficiency and spaciousness. The smaller monitor can actually be used as a secondary portable monitor for a laptop, or even a standalone unit on your desk. You do not have to use it as an attachment to the 22-inch monitor that it comes with.

The Samsung SyncMaster 2263DX offers telecommunications benefits as well as dual monitoring. There is a 3.0M webcam, 1.5W down firing speakers, and a microphone integrated directly into the larger monitor. It is the perfect set up for videoconferencing.

This unit sells for around $550. While this is a bit pricey compared to a standard 22-inch monitor, there is additional functionality and convenience in the SyncMaster 2263DX.

The bottom line is whether you are looking for space saver technology or budget friendly answers. If you have the space, purchasing two monitors is obviously the way to go. If your desk space is slim, you may just have to spend the extra cash. If you are into toys, and just need to have the latest and greatest, the Samsung SyncMaster 2263DX is a must have.

Mom’s Deserve Gifts That Are Special

January 30, 2009 by Guest · Leave a Comment

A gift for Mom!  What an exciting and fun present to buy, because you really want this woman to know what she means to you!  You can be frustrated, though, if the lady you’re buying for is picky about size, color, style, scent, and so forth.  Just remember, though, that the gift you choose reflects how you see her.For example, if you buy her a vacuum cleaner, you!  Since your goal is to honor your wife, mother, grandmother—or even an aunt or sister—choose from this extensive assortment of ideas in wide-ranging prices, guaranteed to please!

1.    Mother’s jewelryPersonalized jewelry represents a time-honored tradition for making your mother or wife feel very special. There is a wide variety of jewlery pieces to choose from - necklaces, bracelets, rings, charms, broaches.  Often several brothers and sisters can pool their money in order to afford something special, and each person’s birthstone represents that effort.  Mother’s jewelry is an ultimate celebration of a woman’s motherhood, no matter what else she does in life.  Grandmother’s jewelry serves this same important purpose!  The price ranges vary depending on whether you buy sterling silver or 18k or 14k or 10k gold, or real versus simulated gemstones.  If you are buying a mother’s ring check with the retailer to see if the size can be adjusted after purchase. With so many options to choose from, you can fit your selection to your budget!

2.    Spa visit – No matter how young or old your mother or wife is, everybody enjoys a spa treatment!  Some women long for a full-body massage or hot stone treatment at a luxurious day spa.  Other women are a little squeamish about having someone else’s hands on their bodies, and if your mother is like that she’ll enjoy a manicure and maybe a pedicure.  That makes this another type of gift that you can adjust according to your available funds.  You just buy a spa certificate for the amount you can afford and let her choose her own services.  Check online for beauty salons and spas in your area, or just look up your local day spa in the yellow pages!

3.    Maid Day – What better way to show her she is definitely not just the maid than purchasing her services from a cleaning lady?Find a cleaning service and provide a day of (or monthly!) cleaning. You could have the cleaning service tackle that job she’s avoided or dreaded forever.  Or you can purchase recurrent general services in your home one day a month, or one-half day a week—whatever fits your budget!  This is another service you can look for online, but again make certain the vendor services your local area.

4.    Gift of Time – This is perfect, especially for kids, because it is a gift of consideration and love.  And it costs little, if any, money.  You can go online to find a certificate maker. It’s as easy as filling in the service you’re offering and the name of the person who’s receiving the gift and then printing it out.  If you have money to spend, you can print the certificate to represent something that’s prepaid, such as babysitting services.  If you don’t have money, just be certain you’re prepared to fulfill the terms you have promised!

5.    Movie tickets – Everyone likes to go to the movies!  Some people only go once or twice a year, and some would go every week if they could.  Most multiplexes offer gift certificates in at least two price options to fit your budget.Or, if you’re budgets a bit larger, add a restaurant gift certificate.Let her know that it’s up to her whether she goes on her own, chooses a friend or … you!

Remember that whoever this woman is in your life, whether she is the mother of your children, or if she is your mother or grandmother, she has put a lot of energy into making your life special and easier. This is a chance to show her how special she is to you.  Whether you buy her mother’s jewelry or a give her a promise to help out with a dreaded task, she will appreciate your thoughtfulness. When you give her your present, don’t forget to say or write the words, “I love you.”

Not Too Old to Learn How to Play Piano

January 30, 2009 by Will Sandey · Leave a Comment

Have you always wanted to play the piano but fear has been holding you back? Hopefully you can fear no more, because we grow into adulthood, wish lists are made of things we long to do. Often playing the piano tops the list for a talent people wish they had.

Children are often learning piano more to meet their parents’ desires than their own, but adults are motivated to learn on their own. Adults are often more focused and can understand more complex musical concepts than children, but some children can learn to play tunes just as quickly as many adults. Many teachers prefer to take students at early elementary school level, but adults over the age of 18 can learn piano too.

Many piano instructors believe that it is easier to teach an eager adult pupil who wants to be there and is serious about developing a talent. Adult students who begin or revive their piano lessons from years ago often are already motivated to practice and progress. Also, many adult students are interested in a variety of musical styles, which teachers enjoy teaching with a motivated student.

When you have decided to finally get serious and learn to play, there are lots of resources available to help you. Find out who is offering lessons in a place that is convenient and comfortable for you and learn a little about your potential instructor and keep in mind that a teacher will never be able to help you learn if you are not willing to do your part. Practice makes perfect still applies and you will need to put in time between classes to work on your assignments.

Celebrate your weekly successes and look forward to the songs you will play. Persistence through the basics will lead to long-term talent and growth. If your family is not supportive, remember what Friedrich Nietzsche said “In music the passions enjoy themselves” and Plato was quoted as saying “Music is the movement of sound to reach the soul for the education of its virtue.”

If you however, still do not feel comfortable going to formal lessons research your options on line. There are many DVD, VHS or on line methods of instruction. While these are no real comparison to one on one in person instruction it is a great fit for some people who want to learn at their own pace in their own way.

You need a keyboard to practice your lessons, so do some searching either online, network through people, or read the classified newspaper ads under musical instruments. You have a large choice of a pricey grand piano, sturdy upright, or compact spinet for pianos, or an electric keyboard that can range from 61 (not recommended) to 88 keys like a regular piano. Keep in mind what is important is that you get the keyboard to practice your assignments, not your age!

Find the way that works best for you and if your first choice doesn’t work consider other ways of learning. Learning the piano can have a positive effect on your entire life and the lives of those around you no matter how old you are. Build your confidence, develop a talent, and add another accomplishment to your well rounded music education.

Does Your Xbox 360 show the Red Ring of Death?

January 29, 2009 by Howie Ja · Leave a Comment

Has the 3 red light Ring of Death Brought Your Gaming Time to a grinding Halt?

I will tell you that your not alone, as it has happened to me a good Three times in 2 very short years. The first console lasted only 2 months from the date i bought it.

Which was ok because the game store just gave me a straight off replacement because it was still under warranty.

But when the Guarantee time expires, It can be quite costly.

There is a cost of over $100 to send your console back to Microsoft, plus a cost of two weeks valuable, Game downtime.

Worse still is that I have heard a few reports that when the Xbox 360 consoles came back from Microsoft, the notorious 3 red lights of doom came back shortly afterwards.

So how does this Annoying Ring of Death Happen?

The main reason the 3 red light occurs is because of the overall design of the console. Especially in the heat sinks and especially the one for the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit).

The GPU Heat sink is underneath the DVD drive of the console, and because of this the heat sink is too small for the heat output of the GPU core. Its only 10mm (3/8) High. On the other hand, the CPU is about 50mm (2) High and is liquid cooled.

Microsoft, in the Elite changed the design slightly so that the liquid cooling extends to the GPU Which keeps the temperature Uniform between the GPU and the CPU and therefore decreases overall temperature that the system operates at.

In summation, that prolonged exposure to high temperature’s cause the motherboard to warp slightly, which in turn, cracks the lead free solder on the joints of the Xbox 360’s components. this then generate’s a system fault in the form of 3 flashing red lights.

The only free solution was the towel trick, but that can be even more problematic as it makes the warping even worse, and creates irreparable damage to the already weakened solder joints. I unfortunately, experienced this first hand.

I was looking for Valuable information. But if you want that, there has to be a Value on it. (i.e. you gotta pay for it), but if it saves your beloved Xbox, its going to save you a lot of money.

I stumbled upon countless guides out there. Some claiming to fix the Xbox 360 in 30 minutes and some up to 2 hours.

While most of the guides good offer explanations and step by step instructions, there are some guides that give you summarized information of the top guides out there.

So being a lover of computer games and having an Electronic Engineering degree, I decided to take action and review the top 6 selling guides out there and I narrowed them down to a Top 3.

Have you got a Hardware Problem on Your Xbox 360?

January 29, 2009 by Howie Ja · Leave a Comment

Has the Xbox 360 Impeded You playing Your Top games because of the 3 red light Ring of Death?

Well, let me tell you that I have been there a few of times before. Once was only a mere 2 months after I bought the console.

That was fine this time because the Guarantee was still there, and I was handed a new one by the Game shop.

But if the Warranty is up, you have limited and Expensive options.

You can pay over $110 to Microsoft for a repair and you will have to wait 2-3 weeks for your console to come back.

From what I have heard, that when the repair was carried out, the Xbox 360 showed its 3 flashing red light’s again after only a couple of weeks.

What is the Exact cause of the Dreaded Three Red light problem?

The core cause of the console’s Hardware failure lies in the Heat sink design, Primarily in the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit).

The GPU heat sink is just below the CD drive of the Xbox 360, and as such the heat sink is too small for the heat generated, Its only 10mm (3/8) High, Whereas the CPU (Central Processing Unit), is about 50mm (2) High and comes with a Liquid cooler!

I searched far and wide for a ‘free’ solution (towel trick) but ended up creating irreparable damage to my 360 and I had to live with a permanent 3 red lights, or as i like to call it, the Devil’s Halo!

As such, the nature of the internet being driven by money, if you wanted good reliable information, your going to have to pay for it. But at least I didn’t have to give any money to Microsoft, Again!

The guides available were countless, I didn’t think there would be so many. Having the fix done to your console takes Half an hour - say some guides. And some say two hours.

Some guides out there are summarized garbage with steps missing. But I wanted a guide that had the simplest explanation and no technical jargon. (and if there is any, its explained to you).

So being a lover of computer games and having an Electronic Engineering degree, I decided to take action and review the top 6 selling guides out there and I narrowed them down to a Top 3.

Visit the link below to reveal the top three available on the Web.

The greeting card is a thoughtful and economical way to let someone in your network of family, friends and business partners know that you care. You can choose from a variety of styles this Christmas, but be sure to get an early start since mail load is often heavy during the holiday season. Most people aim for a first week of December mailing to ensure their greeting cards reach their destinations. To add a personal touch, use holiday address labels and postage stamps.

One type of Christmas greeting card to consider is the charitable donation card. At www.cardsforcauses.com, you can choose from a huge selection of causes, including the American Red Cross, Children’s Miracle Network, Doctors Without Borders, Environmental Defense Fund, Feed the Children, American Cancer Society, American Stroke Foundation, the ASPCA, Teach For America and many more. Donate as little as $14.20 for 10 cards, $71 for 50 or as much as $12,298 for 10,000.

Another type of Christmas greeting cards is the ever-so-economical free greeting; the e-card. There is lots in the way of quality with free e-cards these days, and most sites require a small subscription fee. You can try www.egreetings.com, www.123greetings.com, www.incredimail.com, www.hallmark.com, www.americangreetings.com or www.bluemountain.com for some great selections of Christmas season cards. If you want to send a really funny Merry Xmas card, then try www.jibjab.com or www.officemax.com, where you can put the faces of your family and friends on dancing elves!

Save money on greeting cards this holiday season by purchasing a box set. These sets come in one-style or mixed varieties. At www.paperstyle.com, greeting card box sets range in price from $12 to $20, although some clearance items can be purchased for as little as $4. The designs are stylish with Santas, sleighs, birds, angels and winter scenes. Box sets can be found at just about any store or online. Often, some of the best box sets can be bought with the proceeds going to charities.
