Unless you’ve lived in a closet for the past 15 years, you know that Fender has had no deficit of Artist-inspired guitars. One of their oldest offerings is still one of their greatest, the Eric Clapton model Stratocaster. Though it’s had a few refinements over the years, its versatility and quality remain extremely high.

The tones are only part of the picture, though. The playability is top rate as well, owing in no small part to the V-shaped neck with 9.5″ radius. The neck is fabulously smooth and notes fret and bend with ease. It truly is one of the most comfortable necks we’ve ever seen.
We have to be forthright and say that this instrument is also one of the best playing guitars we’ve ever encountered. It’s really that good.
Still, there are some minor suggestions we could make if Fender was listening. We would value some more modern tuners. Sure, the vintage tuners add to the instrument’s charm, but locking tuners would be better for an instrument as modern as the Clapton Strat.
We’d also appreciate it if the bridge weren’t blocked, but this is a Clapton Strat, and that’s how he wants it, so there’s not much chance of that changing soon.
Aside from these modest suggestions, we think the Eric Clapton model Stratocaster represents the best of Fender’s present-day offerings. We commend it without reservation.

When playing a particular note, you should press your finger down on the string as close to the metal bar as possible without touching the bar itself. Strike the string, and you should hear a clear note. There should be no vibration from the string, and if there is, you’re either not holding down hard enough on the string or your finger is touching the bar.
So, how can you learn how to play songs on guitar without knowing how to read music? The easiest way to do this is to learn specific songs. Guitar tabs are the simplest way to which you can learn. For instance, if the first number on a tab is a “2 on the A”, you would place your finger on the 2nd string on the 2nd fret and strike the string.
Continue playing the riff in the right order of the guitar tab and you’ll be on your way to playing actual songs!
One last thing to remember is that if you see guitar tab with more than one number stacked on top of each other, then it means a chord needs to be played. A chord, of course, is when you strike more than one string at one time. A “0” on the label of the tabs means you will play the string open (without pressing your finger down on the string).
