Hip Hop Music

Hip hop is in fact a type of poem. It’s also a state of being, a form of expression, spoken words, a lifestyle, a mind set,hip hop is more just than a music form. Your manner of dressing, speech, way of life, scripting, personality and thoughts is also a means of expressing oneself.

Hip-hop has four essential elements: break dancing, graffiti, emceeing (rapping) and DJ-ing. These elements have been the cornerstones of the hip-hop movement since its inception in the late 1970s, and they are absolutely immovable.

Hip-hop’s roots can be found in a variety of African-influenced musical styles. African-American gospel, folk, blues, jazz and R&B music each take a limb on the tree, as do calypso, salsa, soca, ska, reggae and other Afro-Caribbean styles. Hip-hop artists vocalize over beats and instrumental tracks, usually consisting of repeated phrases. The use of extended drum breaks led to the development of mixing and scratching techniques. Hip-hop has sought commercial viability since the mid-’90s. Jay-Z has built an entire career out of finding listeners like me, and you’d be hard-pressed to say his music suffers because of his pandering.

Hip hop can never cease to exist because it’s popular among the young. The existance of people and their expression towards the beat, the hip-hop form will remain as it is. You cannot blame Hip-Hop where people live their lives the way they want to. Where on the contrary the vast load of violence on tv and in movies does’t get any blame. In terms of a subculture, hip hop does not necessarily fit the bill. The Hip-Hop form of dance and music is considered to be a substituted version from many of the elements ineffectively provided by the dominant society and therefore called a surrogate culture.

Hip-hop has to be “hard,” it ought to be “from the streets”; it’s about beats, not tune, it is the sampling and reconstituting of music, not composing it from scratch. Hip-hop music has many elements but the music is all built around the rapper’s voice and his themes-using imaginative wordplay, establishing his territory, taking on the world.

Men have traditionally been the main force in the hip-hop genre. As it is a mirror of city life and struggle, old hip-hop artists were forced to keep a specific amount of chauvanism so as to let urban communities accept them.

Hip-hop culture is a fusing energy, a powerful blend of free enterprise, social activism, imagination as well as orginality that attracts the young generation worldwide. The Hip-Hop form of music will be getting the recognition of one of the most important forms of music in America. The great ones in music along with rappers and dj’s will be together. Hip-hop provides a generational global view that covers the shoes you opt to wear and your knowledge about the racial issue.

Even rap has detectable features that are always present in any rap music, but though there are common elements between rap and hip-hop during DJ-ing as well as in emceeing, rap has introduced new features that are unique. In rap videos and songs, crime and violence have become staples. Rap is considered to be a part of hip hop which frankly speaking is nothing but selling out and shitting on it as well. Rapping evolved from hip-hop but it was not an easy process with the fans.

The Best Way to Sing on Pitch

November 7, 2008 by Lisa Lopez · Leave a Comment

Do you know what the meaning of “tone deaf” is? Some singers unable to sing in pitch despite they had trying a lot of ways to solve this problem. Normally, they failed to identify the different of the musical frequency or pitch from the others. Singers find it difficult to sing in harmony with others or to accompany notes of some instrument.

Do you know the causes that make you a “tone deaf”? Actually, it might be possible as a child you were not involved in enough musical activities. You might not have got the training in your childhood. But it’s not a problem. It is never too late to learn singing on pitch.

In case of singing on pitch, tone deafness and actual deafness should be differentiated. Tone deaf people can hear the music and the other audible sounds like street traffic, noise etc but they are not able to differentiate one pitch from another. There is “ear training”, a special form of training that can help you in singing on a pitch. Ear training can help you in the personal development of areas that are a bit lacking.

There is additional thing to acknowledge that a lot of people can hear music in their head, when no music is being played at their places. It’s comfortable for such people to overcome singing on pitch. A lot of composers have this ability and they can compose symphonies in their brain, without bringing their ear to it. Fundamentally, astounding auditory memories are advancing popularity among people. It’s like we can recall certain smell and taste like a chef.

You have to learn the fundamental differences between singing and hearing is you really want to sing in pitch easily. Both these terms are very much dependent on each other. Dr. Alfred Tomatis, a French audiologist, had established an important relationship between the two terms.

He told that if a person cannot produce a particular sound, he cannot hear it. He gave this reason for the change in the voice of older people. As they lose their hearing ability, their voice changes. So hearing on pitch plays an important role in singing on pitch. You fail to copy the pitch, unless you learn to distinguish it.

You have learn to hear pitch before you ever think about of singing in pitch. You must start from hearing the pitch. If you can hear, you can move to the next step to differentiate between the sounds of different pitches.

For it, you need to find some good ear training exercise or you can hire a good coach to teach you the same. They can provide you an aid to improve your singing technique. Singing on pitch needs lot of practice. So keep practicing. Don’t give it up. It is in your reach.
